Amboseli National park
3 days / 2 nights
Overview
Amboseli national park is the second most famous Kenya Safari destination after Masai Mara for being the best place in Africa where visitors get close to free roaming elephants. The park also offers other wildlife species such as Giraffes, Leopards, Lions and more than 200 birds species not forgetting the spectacular views of Mt Kilimanjaro.
A safari in this park can be combined with most Kenyan and Tanzanian safaris or a trek to Kilimanjaro. We are delighted to share the best of all this paradise has to offer with you.
Best time to visit: Although Amboseli National Park can be visited at any time of year, it is best to go in the dry months which have little to no rainfall (June to October and January to February), as these months are the best for general wildlife viewing. View of Mt. Kilimanjaro is often obscured by clouds, but chances are best in the early morning and late afternoon during the Wet season (November to May), when the sky is clear of dust.
Wildlife to view: The Amboseli National Park is home to large herds of Elephants that can be easily seen walking around the park. Other animal species that are found in the park are lions, leopards, buffaloes, wildebeests, zebras, foxes, giraffes, hyenas, wild dogs, dik-dik, crocodile, hyrax, among others.
Nairobi to Amboseli National Park (240km: 4 Hours Approximate)
We will depart from Nairobi CBD in the morning and enjoy a scenic drive to Amboseli National Park along the Nairobi - Mombasa Highway. A very relaxing drive through the savannah and within 3-4 hours you will arrive just in time for lunch. Get the chance to comfortably check into your lodge or camp. Enjoy your meal, unwind and enjoy the amenities.
In the afternoon we will head out for an exciting game drive. With Mt. Kilimanjaro as our background you’ll enjoy the sight of the mighty elephants many of them spotting immense ivory tusks. Get an experience nature at its most raw with big game viewing & bird watching.
Dinner and overnight will be taken at AA Lodge.
Full Day at Amboseli National Park
We like to rise early while on safari to set an adventurous tone for the day. Right after breakfast, you will be picked from your lodge and head to the plains of Amboseli for a day full of adventure. Soak in the excellent views of Mount Kilimanjaro before the clouds build up over the summit.
Catch the big cats as they stroll through the savannah. This is the best time to spot lions, leopards and even cheetahs. Our game drive will also take you to the observation hill to have a better overall view of the park. Gaze at the big herds of elephants crossing right near your vehicle and get the chance to spot over 80 different mammals and over 400 different bird species. To add richness to your safari, you can include a visit to the local Masai tribesmen’s village.
This visit reveals the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. A glimpse into their homes and social structure is an exciting experience. Enjoy a picnic lunch before you continue with the game drive. In the evening you will return to your lodge to relax, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.
Dinner and overnight will again be taken at AA Lodge.
Kilimanjaro Farewells
We are squeezing every drop of adventure out of Amboseli today! Choose your morning: an early-bird sunrise safari to spot the big cats, or a hearty breakfast followed by a final sweep of the park.
While the "Big Five" get the glory, do not forget to look for the smaller stars: jackals, foxes, and playful monkeys. The wetlands are also buzzing with life, from stately herons to colorful kingfishers. If the clouds clear, you will get one last iconic photo of Mt. Kilimanjaro before we hit the road back to Nairobi.
Have a relaxed drive via the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway and arrive back to the city in the early evening.
We will drop you off at Nairobi CBD or your requested drop off point, marking the end of the tour.
